Orange County American High School (OCAHS) was founded in 2006 by educators and innovators who recognized online learning’s power to transform K–12 education. OCAHS is an online, private, middle, and high school serving students through grades K-12 and offering a mastery and competency-based, self-paced, college preparatory program located in Jacksonville, Florida. Our program provides instruction focused on student-centered, authentic learning processes. To-date, Orange County American High School has launched several successful blended learning centers across the world, bringing quality online education directly to the doors of millions of students.

We offer a better alternative to regular high school. The program accommodates all types of students. We tailor courses to be effective and user-friendly in an online environment. High school and middle school classes are adapted to work in an online setting. We provide an excellent, well-rounded, proven curriculum. You receive the instruction you need to meet your educational goals.

Our students are offered college preparatory, honors, and Advanced Placement (AP) courses. Our AP course curriculum is provided by Apex Learning and taught by OCAHS instructors. Students attend OCAHS for various reasons. Students may need to meet individual state online
course requirements, enroll in courses not offered in their current school, complete credit recovery, or earn an accredited high school diploma. With our team of highly-qualified instructors, dedicated support services personnel, and committed management staff, OCAHS can offer alternative pathways of study that best meet the needs of each student.
This non-traditional style of engaging our learners allows us to be creative in educating our student population by using instructional methodologies that cater to diverse learning styles.

OCAHS seeks to become a U.S. based international Middle and High School and has been very successful in achieving its mission. Right now, the majority of the OCAHS student population is from Asian and Latin American Countries.

Orange County American High School offers a broad range of courses from entry to advance levels. All courses are reviewed by the faculty and adapted by the leadership team yearly. Courses help students to meet graduation requirements pursuant to Florida Dept. of Education standards and also allow them to receive College/Career, or Scholar designation on their diplomas and transcripts. To graduate from Orange County American High School, Students must acquire a minimum of 24 credits along with a GPA of a two or higher to be eligible for graduation.

Each course offered at OCAHS is supported by a complete written curriculum designed and developed by curriculum experts, instructional designers, subject matter experts, and the faculty, and formally adopted by the leadership team. Each curriculum design is based on national standards. Once the standards are identified, course objectives are created, and
activity designs are developed. The process helps students to demonstrate competency on each standard.

The instructional design process, which is based on sound instructional design methodologies, includes a brief of the assessments to assess student achievement of the required standards. Among several synchronous and asynchronous learning strategies, these assessments include formative assessments (i.e., quizzes, essays, WebQuests, worksheets, journal entries, and essays) to comprehensive Unit Projects and end of course exams.

Each student, regardless of rank, is given special attention unless IEP (“Individual Education Plan”) requires an alternate placement. All primary classes in reading and mathematics are offered through the same setting.
